During the Tughlaq dynasty, Zafar Khan established the Bahmani kingdom in the South India in $1347 \ AD$ Zafar Khan under the name of Alauddin Bahman Shah ruled independently.
He annexed several terrotories to his state, making Gulmarg the capital of Bahmani state.
The contribution of Ahmed Shah and Mohammad Shah $- III$ as the rulers of the kingdom of Bahman is significant. Sultan Ahmed Shah moved the capital from Gulmarg to Bidar and built many artistic buildings there.
Mahmood Gawan was the Vazir of Mohammad Shah - $III$. He created a competent administration.
So the Bahmani power was strengthened during the reign of Mohammad Shah - $III.$
After that during reign of Mahmood Shah Bahmani, all the power of the state passed into the hands of his Vazir Qasim Barid and it was during his reign that Bahmani empire came to an end.
Consequently, the whole empire was divided into five independent states like Bijapur, Ahmednagar, Golconda Bidar and Barar.
