(i)

These forests are found in areas receiving rainfall between 200 and 100cm.

These forests are found in areas having rainfall between 100cm and 70cm.

These forests exist, mostly in the eastern part of the country –north eastern states, along the foothills of the Himalayas, Jharkhand, West Odisha and Chhattisgarh, and on the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats.

These forests are found in the rainier parts of the peninsular plateau and the plains of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Teak is the most important species of these forests. Bamboo, sal, shisham, khair, kusum, etc. are other commercial species.

Important trees found in these forests are teak, sal, peepal, neem, etc.
