  1. A new genre of Sufi poetry was composed in and nearby areas of Bijapur in Karnataka.
  2. The short poems were written in Dakhani. These were composed by saints, chisti, who lived in that region in the 17th and 18th centuries.
  3. Poems were mostly sung by women whenever they used to complete household work-grinding the grain and spinning.
  4. Lurinama and Shadinama were the form of some compositions. Sufis were affected by the existed Bhakti traditions.
