OR
How had a series of inventions in the eighteenth century increased the efficiency of each step of the production process in cotton textile industry? Explain.

Answer

  1. The technological inventions increased the efficacy of each step of the production process, i.e. carding, twisting and spinning and rolling.
  2. They enhanced the output of per worker enabling each worker to produce more.
  3. They made possible the production of stronger threads and yarn.
  4. Richard Arkwright devised the cotton mill. It increased efficiency of the production. Now the cloth production shifted from village households to factories where production was done under one roof.
  5. This allowed a more careful supervision over the production process, a watch over quality and the regulation of labour. As a result of all, this production increased to a great extent.
