Question
How is the MOET programme carried out for herd improvement? Explain.

Answer

MOET stands for multiple ovulation embryo transfer. In this method the cow is administered hormones, with FSH like activity. This hormone induces follicular maturation and super ovulation. Thus instead of one-egg per cycle. We obtain around 6-8 eggs in a cycle. This animal is either mated with an elite bull or artificially recovered non-surgically & transferred to surrogate mother. The genetic mother is available for another round of super ovulation.
