Question
How many moles of $CO _2$ are obtained from complete combustion of 21 gm propene?

Answer

$C _3 H _8+4.5 O _2 \longrightarrow 3 CO _2+3 H _2 O$
$\text { Moles of propene }=\frac{\text { Given mass }(g)}{\text { Molecular mass }}$
Molecular mass of propene $\left( C _3 H _8\right)=42$
$\text { Moler of propene }=\frac{21}{42}=0.5$
According to balanced equation, 1 mole of propene give 3 mole of $CO _2$ on combustion. Hence 1.5 mole $CO _2$ will form from combustion of 0.5 mole propene.
