Anaemia is the main feature of this disease. There are two forms of thalassemia, i.e. $\alpha-$thalassemia (production of affected $\alpha-$globin chain which is governed by genes on 16^th chromosome) and $\beta-$thalassemia (production of affected p-chain which is governed by a gene on 11^th chromosome).
