Question
If 2a = 3b and 4b = 5c, find: a : c.
✓
Answer
We have, $2 a=3 b \Rightarrow \frac{a}{b}=\frac{3}{2}$ And $4 b=5 c \Rightarrow \frac{b}{c}=\frac{5}{4}$ Now, $\frac{ a }{ b }=\frac{3}{2}=\frac{3 \times 5}{2 \times 5}=\frac{15}{10}$ and $\frac{ b }{ c }=\frac{5}{4}=\frac{5 \times 2}{4 \times 2}=\frac{10}{8}$ ⇒ a : b : c = 15 : 10 : 8 ⇒ a : c = 15 : 8
