Question
If A : B = 2 : 3, B : C = 4 : 5 and C : D = 6 : 7, find A : D
✓
Answer
Let $A: B=2: 3, B: C=4: 5$ and $C: D=6: 7$ $ \frac{ A }{ B }=\frac{2}{3}, \frac{ B }{ C }=\frac{4}{5}, \frac{ C }{ D }=\frac{6}{7} $ Multiplying $\frac{ A }{ B } \times \frac{ B }{ C } \times \frac{ C }{ D }=\frac{2}{3} \times \frac{4}{5} \times \frac{6}{7}$ $ \begin{aligned} & \therefore \frac{A}{D}=\frac{16}{35} \\ & \Rightarrow A: D=16: 35 . \end{aligned} $
