→ Emperor Hirohito who came to the throne in 1933 encouraged the Japanese imperialism.
→ Japan became a signatory to 'Rome - Berlin - Tokyo Axis'.
→ The Western powers failed to restrain the Imperialist - expansionist Japan which invaded China during the Second World War and occupied most of its territory.
→ Japan launched an aerial attack on Pearl Harbour on 8th December. 1941 and plunged into the Second World War on the side of Germany and Italy.
