Question
In the given figure, ABCD is a quadrilateral-shaped field in which diagonal BD is 36m, $\text{AL}\perp\text{BD}$ and $\text{CM}\perp\text{BD}$ such that AL = 19m and CM = 11m. Find the area of the field.

Answer

In quad. ABCD, diagonals BD = 36m, $\text{AL}\perp\text{BD}$ and $\text{CM}\perp\text{BD}$ AL = 19m and CM = 11cm
$\therefore$ Area of the field ABCD, $=\frac{\text{BD}\times(\text{AL}+\text{CM})}{2}$ $=\frac{36\times(19+11)}{2}\text{m}^2$ $=\frac{36\times30}{2}=540\text{m}^2$
