Dattatreya acoepted water also as a guru and acquired knowledge from it. Water is pure. It may be contanimated for a while by coming into contact with someone, but it does not remain impure forever. It certainly becomes pure by some or the other means. In the similar manner, a saint must be pure always water spreads wetness (affection) and coolness whereever it goes. It is sweet and the base of life. Similarly a good person should have sweetness in conversation and he has to be a lifeline for the lives of living beings. Moreover, water is a kind of element which purifies by its manifestation and touch, in the similar manner, a person must purify all by his manifestation and touch.
