Question
Mention three advantages of liberalisation in the Indian context.

Answer

Liberalisation has resulted in the following positive impacts on the Indian economy :
(i) Ease of Doing Business : The new economic policy has abolished licensing system. This system was a great hurdle in the entry of new units. After liberalisation, the establishment of new units has become easy.
(ii) Competitive Environment : The liberalisation policy allowed free entry of multinational corporations into Indian market. This increased tough competition for Indian firms and improved methods. Indians firms introduced latest technology to compete with the MNCs.
(iii) Consumers' Market : Earlier before liberalisation, it was a producers' market. The customers had to accept whatever was produced by the domestic produces. Now with entry of MNCs in India, a variety of brands of each product are available in the market. The customers are no longer at the mercy of domestic producers. They have become selective. So now such goods are produced which are required and preferred by the customers.
