i. Mining is well-developed in the Chhota Nagpur plateau in India because it is rich in various types of minerals. Hence, it is the main occupation of the people residing there.
ii. Coal is mined in Eastern Maharashtra and in Korba in Chhattisgarh.
iii. At the mouth of the river Godavari, reserves of mineral oil and natural gas are found.
iv. Moreover, mineral oil wells have been discovered in Digboi in Assam, Mumbai High in Arabian Sea near Maharashtra, Kalol and Koyali in Gujarat.
v. Moreover, reserves of metallic minerals are found in Jharkhand, Odisha, adjoining Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, parts of Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Hence, metallurgical industries have developed here.
For e.g. Rajasthan has copper, lead & zinc, Karnataka has steel, manganese & aluminium and Tamil Nadu has aluminium metal industries.
