Explanation:

The stem is that part of the plant which bears leaves and flowers have a  continuous vascular system that starts at the roots and carries water and minerals to the leaves and other parts of the plant.

The normal stems are identified by a number of external features such as buds (terminal and lateral), nods, scars, bark.

However, some plants have modified stems such as bulb, corm, tuber, crown, stolon, rhizome etc.

Of these, the most reduced form of the stem is the bulb as is found in Allium cepa, Allium sativum, etc.
