In any seed, the reserve food for the developing embryo is stored either in the endosperm or in the cotyledons, but never in both of them simultaneously.
If food is stored inside the endosperm, then the cotyledons become small and thin.
Such seeds are called as endospermic seeds or albuminous seeds, e.g., maize, wheat and other cereals, bean seeds and coconut seeds.
