Osmosis is a special kind of diffusion. In both the phenomena, there is a movement of particles from the region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. However, in case of osmosis, the movement is of "solvent particles" from a less concentrated "solution" and the movement is through a semi-permeable membrane.
