Answer

Equations of the coordinate axes are x = 0 and y = 0
∴ the equations of the lines passing through (1, 2) and parallel to the coordinate axes are x = 1 and y =1
i.e. x – 1 = 0 and y – 2 0
∴ their combined equation is
(x – 1)(y – 2) = 0
∴ x(y – 2) – 1(y – 2) = 0
∴ xy – 2x – y + 2 = 0
