Question
Pluto is no longer a planet. Reason out.

Answer

  1. In August 2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) down-graded the status of Pluto to that of the dwarf planet.
  2. The three criteria of the IAU for a full-sized planet are
    • It is in orbit around the Sun.
    • It has sufficient Mass to assume nearly a round shape.
    • It has cleared the neighborhood around its orbit.
  3. Since Pluto is able to meet only the first two of the criteria, it is no more a planet.
