i. The Hot weather season, the season of Rainfall (Monsoon), the season of Retreating Monsoon and the Cold weather season are the four seasons that are recognised by the Indian Meteorological Department.
ii. Generally by October, there is a season of retreating monsoon in India. The South-west monsoon winds return from the Himalayan ranges and their retreating journey starts.
iii. While blowing from the north-east towards the Indian Ocean, these winds bring rainfall again to some parts of the Peninsula. This is the retreating monsoon season in India.
iv. Tamil Nadu receives the maximum rainfall during the retreating monsoon season.
