Right to freedom is the soul of democracy.
→ We cannot imagine democracy without right to freedom.
→ This right is necessary for working and preservation of democracy.
→ Freedom of expression is an essential condition for the fullest development of every citizen in the country.
→ Freedom is essential to enable an individual to live a healthy and contented life.
→ Right to freedom is to be exercised within the preview of 'reasonable restrictions' laid down in the constitution.
→ Right to freedom grants the following six freedoms to the citizens:
(1) Freedom of thought and expression (that includes the freedom of press)
(2) Freedom of peaceful assembly without arms
(3) Freedom to form associations
(4) Freedom of movement throughout the country (except restricted places)
(5) Freedom to reside in any part of India. except Jammu and Kashmir
