$\frac{7\text{y}+4}{\text{y}+7}=\frac{-4}{3}$(by cross multiplication)
$\Rightarrow3 (7\text{y} + 4) = -4 (\text{y} + 2)$
$\Rightarrow21\text{y} + 12 = -4\text{y} - 8$
$\Rightarrow21\text{y} + 4\text{y} = -8 -12$
$\Rightarrow25\text{y} = -20$
$\Rightarrow\text{y} = -\frac{20}{25}= \frac{-4}{5}$
$\therefore\text{y}=\frac{-4}{5}$
