Question
Solve the following equation: 5y – 15 = 27 -2y

Answer

5y – 15 = 27 -2y
⇒ 5y + 2y - 15 = 27 - 2y + 2y (Adding 2y to both sides)
⇒ 7y - 15 = 27
⇒ 7y - 15 + 15 = 27 + 15 ...(Adding 15 to both sides)
⇒ 7y = 42
$\Rightarrow \frac{7 y}{7}=\frac{42}{7} \quad \ldots($ Dividing by 7$)$
⇒ y = 6
