Question
Split the shape into a rectangle and find its area. (The measures are given in centimetres)

Answer

We know that,
Area of rectangle = Length $\times$ Breadth
Hence, from the figure,
Area of $1^{\text {st }}$ rectangle $=12 \times 2=24 \mathrm{~cm}^2$
Also,
Area of $2^{\text {nd }}$ rectangle $=8 \times 2=16 \mathrm{~cm}^2$
Thereore,
Total area $=24+16 \mathrm{~cm}^2=40 \mathrm{~cm}^2$
