Question
State some demerits of Mode.

Answer

Some demerits of mode are:
  1. It is difficult to find mode for bi-modal and tri-modal series.
  2. The value of mode is not based on each and every item of the series.
  3. When frequencies of all items are identical, it is difficult to identify the modal value.
  4. As compared to mean, mode is affected to a great extent, by sampling fluctuations.
  5. Calculation of mode involves cumbersome procedure of grouping the data. If the extent of grouping changes, there will be a change in the modal value.
