Expenses incurred in a Demat account can be divided into four parts:
(1) Account opening costs: Some banks charge these costs while some banks do not charge these costs.
(2) Annual Maintenance Fee: Maintenance charge is levied for maintaining the Demat account.
(3) Custodian Fee: Fee has to be paid every month depending on the number of shares in the Demat holder's account.
(4) Transaction Fees: Fees are charged on the basis of the transactions in which the shares are traded.
