Area of rectangle $I =$ (Length $\times $ Breadth)

$= 3\ cm^2$
Area of rectangle $III=$(Length $\times $ Breadth)
$= (3 \times 1)$

Thus, the total area of this figure $=$ (Area of rectangle $I +$ area of rectangle $II +$ area of rectangle $III)$
$= (3 + 3 + 3)$
$= 9\ cm^2$
