Dayanand holds a prominent position among social reformers of nineteenth century. He was also known for his spiritual thinking. He established Aryasamaj and gave a new insight about the Veda and the religion to the society. He was not only a preacher but also a social reformer. After studying the Veda minutely, he launched movement to eradicate evil customs from the society. He created awareness in the society. He devoted his whole life for the attainment of spirituality.
Due to keen desire to become an ascetic, he left his home in childhood and took Diksha from Guru Purnanand. He learned varied knowledge from Guru Virjanand at Mathura and with the help of this knowledge, he started movement to eradicate evil customs from the society.
He tried to remove differences among people and helped women to eradicate pretenses prevailed in the society in the name of religion and re-established the original ideas of Vedic Dharma.
Thus, Maharshi Dayanand was a great philosopher, the best orator, revolutioner of public lives, a great patriot and a modern saint.
