Translation :Therefore trees smell with flowers. There is a dialogue between Bhardwaj and Bhrugu in $184th$ chapter of Shantiparva of the Mahabharat composed by Maharshi Vedvyas. This dialogue of Shantiparva contains detailed explanation of fire elements. This explanation says that a tree has life.
The fourth line of the second shloka of this poem is "विना वृक्षं गृहं शून्यम्।" The meaning of this shloka is "The trees which are grown with good or bad deeds and bearing different type of fragrant flowers remain healthy or diseasefree. Thus, trees smell with the help of flowers.
