It is true that societies make clear distinctions between boys and girls. The way societies make distinctions can be seen from the examples of growing up of children of Samoan islands and Madhya Pradesh as follows
→ The children in Samoa islands did not go to school. They learnt to take care of children and do household work from other older children and adults. When children began to walk, they were looked after by their older brothers and sisters who were often as young as 5 years old.
→ In Madhya Pradesh, after 6th class, boys and girls went to separate schools which were designed very differently. Girl's school had a central courtyard while boy's school had no such courtyard. Girls used the streets to get straight to home whereas boys used them to play, stand idle and try out tricks with their bicycles.
