(i) Chemical fertilizers are made up of bases whereas laterite soil is acidic in nature. Due to the chemical reaction between them, salt and water are formed.
(ii) Salt is harmful to plant and has no nutritive value. Hence, we should use organic fertilizers which have no side effects.
