Those pollutants which are decomposed by micro organism are called biodegradable pollutants. e.g. detergents with linear alkyl chain are biodegradable water pollutants. Soaps are also biodegradable. Non-biodegradable pollutants: Those pollutants which are not decomposed by micro-organisms are called non-biodegradable pollutants, e.g. Detergents with branched alkyl chain, DDT (insectide) are non-biodegradable.
