Question
What are the primary differences between crust, mantle and core? Also, discuss about the composition of continental crust and oceanic crust.

Answer

The difference between crust, mantle and core are

CrustMantleCore
It is the uppermost layer of the Earth. It lies just below the crust. It is the inner most layer of the Earth.
It is the thinnest layer and extend about 35 km on the continental masses and only 5 km on the ocean floors. It extends upto a depth of 2900 km below the crust. It has a radius of about 3500 km.
The crust forms only 1% of the volume of the Earth. The mantle forms 84% of the volume of the Earth. The core forms 15% of the volume of the Earth.

Continental mass mainly consists of Silica and Alumina mineral constituents, thus it is called slal. (Si-Silica and Al-Alumina).
The oceanic crust mainly consists of Silica and Magnesium, thus it is called sImA (Si-Silica and Ma-Magnesium).
