Waves are a phenomena wherein the water in the surface of the ocean rises and falls alternately.
Waves are primarily caused by the scraping of winds across the ocean surface, with stronger winds leading to larger waves. Storms, high-speed winds, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and underwater landslides can shift significant amounts of ocean water, giving rise to tsunamis, which are enormous tidal waves, potentially reaching heights of upto 15 meters and causing huge destruction along coastal areas.
