Emotion-focused coping involves trying to reduce the negative emotional responses associated with stress such as embarrassment, fear, anxiety, depression, excitement and frustration. It includes the following technique used to manage the stressful situations.
- Using drugs.
- Denial of reality.
- Meditation, e.g. mindfulness.
- Blame.
- Vent out of emotions.
- Mentally disengaging from stressful situation.
- Keeping yourself busy to take your mind off the issue.
- Distracting yourself (T.V., eating etc.).
- Praying for guidance and strength.
- Crying.
- Building yourself up to expect the worse.
