Question
What do you mean by ryoti system?

Answer

The Ryoti system was a method of indigo cultivation introduced by the British in India. Under this system:
1. Indigo was grown by Indian farmers (ryots) on their own land.
2. The farmers were forced to sign contracts to grow indigo for European planters.
3. The planters gave loans (advance money) to the ryots, which trapped them in debt and forced them to grow indigo instead of food crops.
This system led to the exploitation and suffering of Indian farmers.
