Question
What happens to the force between two objects, if the mass of one object is doubled$?$
✓
Answer
From Universal law of gravitation, force exerted on an object of mass m by earth is given by,$\text{F}=\text{G}\frac{\text{Mm}}{\text{r}^2}$
Now, $m$ is $2m$
$\text{F}'=\text{G}\frac{\text{M}\times2\text{m}}{\text{r}^2}=\text{G}\frac{2\text{Mm}}{\text{r}^2}$
So as the mass of any one of the object is doubled the force is also doubled.
