Alcohol : It is the main component of liquor – which is useful as an antiseptic and solvent. Effects of alcohol :
(1) Its consumption causes distorted thinking, excitement, unclear pronunciation and sedative effects.
(2) Cerebellum part is affected by alcohol consumption. From this muscle coordination is not possible. Due to this the person starts staggering.
(3) There is a decrease in memory.
(4) Consumption of alcohol causes swelling in the stomach wall.
(5) Excessive amount of alcohol in the blood causes fat in the liver. Increases synthesis and it starts accumulating in fat, liver cells and bile duct. This is called fatty liver syndrome. Fatty liver and liver cirrhosis occurs.
