A series of compounds with the same functional group and similar chemical properties in which each successive member differs by $CH _2$.
Eaxample: Methane $\left( CH _4\right)$ and ethane $\left( C _2 H _8\right)$.
There are a part of homologous series \& the difference among these molecules is that they have different numbers of $CH _2$ groups.
