The basic plot of each story was that the tale would start with some animal, for example Roger, who would have a problem and visit an owl who in turn would direct him to a wizard. The wizard would then perform a magic spell and take a certain fee that would be insufficient and on the directions of the wizard, the animal would find them at a place and pay him.
