During the Gupta Age, Hinduism and culture flourished in full swing. The scriptures (texts) like Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Puranas were recompiled. Shrimad Bhagavad Geeta became a very important scripture. Though Vaishnavism was the religion of state, Jainism and Buddhism also developed. At this time, Mahayan and Hinyan, the two sects of Buddhism developed. Thus, the religious status of Gupta Age was admirable.
