Question
Which ratio is greater:
$(1 : 2)$ or $(4 : 7)$

Answer

$(1 : 2)$ or $(4 : 7)$
$\Rightarrow\frac{1}{2}$ or $\frac{4}{7}$
$LCM$ of $2, 7 = 14$
$\therefore\frac{1}{2}=\frac{1\times7}{2\times7}=\frac{7}{14}$
$\frac{4}{7}=\frac{4\times2}{7\times2}=\frac{8}{14}$
It is clear that $\frac{8}{14}$ is greater
$\therefore\frac{8}{14}>\frac{7}{14}$ or $\frac{4}{7}>\frac{1}{2}$
Or $(4 : 7)>(1 : 2)$
