III Effects of smoking of Tobacco:
  • Smoking of tobacco is associated with cancer of lungs, urinary bladder and throat, bronchitis, emphysema, coronary heart diseases, etc.
  • Smoking also increases the CO content in blood and reduces the concentration of haembound oxygen, thus causing oxygen deficiency in the body.
  • Nicotine, an alkaloid present in tobacco, stimulates the adrenal glands to secrete adrenaline and noradrenaline, which increase the blood pressure and heart rate.
