Bishamber demanded a sum of Rs.5,000/- to marry Bholi in place of the Rs.2,000/- that her father Ramlal offered him. He made use of the fact that Bholi was not good looking and had a scarred face. Bishamber knew very well that Ramlal would find it impossible or very difficult to find a suitor for his daughter and would hence give in to any demand made by him.
