Question
Why does the poet say: 'I've tasted of desire'?
✓
Answer
In this poem, the poet depicts the picture of destruction in the form of fire and ice. However he wants to hold with those who favour fire, in the beginning. Fire has been symbolised as desire, and it has a strength that can bring end to anyone or anything, which the poet realises from his personal experiences.
