Question
Why on alkenes, the electrophilic reagent attack takes place early.

Answer

Due to the weakness of a bond, alkenes behave like source of weakly bonded mobile electrons. Therefore, alkenes are easily attacked by electrophilic reagents. Due to weak a bonding, alkenes are less stable than alkanes, hence they react with electrophilic reagents to form compounds containing single bonds.
