Buddhist texts mention republics of different races. Notable among them are the Licchavis of Vaishali, the
Shakyas of Kapilvastu, the Mallos of Pava and Kushinagar, the Morias of Piplivan, the Muggs of Giri of Sumsumar and the Vidhes of Mithila.
Malla had two branches of the state.
One branch was at Pavapuri and the other at Kushinagar.
Mahavira Swami in Pavapuri and Gautam Buddha in Kushinagar attained Nirvana.
The Malla states were republics, and all its members were called kings.
In Pavapuri, Mallo built a new building for his parliament called "Ubbhitak".
The administrative bureaucrats here were called "Purish".
Which is similar to today's police.
This state gave Buddhism teachers like Bhikhu Anand and Aniruddha.
