Four functions of hypothalamus :
(i) It controls body temperature and homeostasis.
(ii) It contains higher centres of the autonomic nervous system, which shows the brain's control over thirst, sleep, emotions, satisfaction, anger, happiness etc.
(iii) It establishes connection between the nervous system and endocrine system.
(iv) Some of its neuro-secretory cells secrete hormones called vasopressin and oxytocin, which are released into the blood by the pituitary gland.
