  2. Advancing Loans: They sanction various types of loan and advances against security of land, crops, gold and silver.
  3. Discounting Hundis: They buy, sell and discount hundies and bills of exchange.
  4. Speculation: They indulge in speculation of food and non-food crops and other consumption items.
  5. Financing Inland Trade: They provide finance to traders, artisans and small industrialists.
