In India, the rainy season is from July to October. According to the Indian Calendar, the monsoon is from Ashadh to Aso. It rains during the monsoon. There is greenery everywhere. People wear raincoats and carry umbrellas. Farmers start farming from the second day (Ashadhi Beej) of Ashadh. Monsoon is the season of various festivals and fairs. During this season festivals like Ashadhi Beej, Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Bhadarvi Poonam, Dusshera, Dhan Teras, Diwali, etc. are celebrated. Sometimes when it rains very heavily during this season, rivers get flooded and there is a lot of loss. During this season children make paper boats and float them in flowing rainwater and also play in water. The sky is covered with dark clouds and there is lightning. Vegetables like lady's finger, bitter gourd, ridge gourd, string beans, etc. are available.
